About the Role
The clerk is responsible for processing payroll files, running reports to verify accuracy, and making corrections as needed. Additional duties include updating employee information, reviewing new hires and rehires, handling checks and ACH direct deposits, scanning and indexing timesheets, entering garnishments and other deductions, and managing post‑payroll corrections, separation notices, and employment verifications. • Process payroll files (import & upload) and run accuracy reports, correcting errors as needed. • Enter payroll data such as rate changes, address updates, direct deposit forms, and tax forms. • Review new hires and rehires. • Print checks and create ACH files for direct deposits. • Scan and index timesheets and miscellaneous documents. • Enter employee garnishments and other deductions. • Handle post‑payroll corrections. • Process separation notices. • Process employment verification requests. • Regularly talk or hear. • Frequently walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. • Perform repetitive hand/arm movements. • Occasionally stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and use hands/fingers. • Perform sedentary work. • Direct others and communicate effectively with management/supervision. • Perform math calculations. • Concentrate amid distractions and remember details.

What You Bring
Cajun is seeking a Payroll Clerk with at least three years of payroll experience to work in its Baton Rouge office. The role involves compiling data to process weekly payroll and maintaining payroll records. Physical requirements include occasional lifting of up to 25 lb, regular talking and hearing, frequent walking, sitting, and reaching, repetitive hand/arm use, occasional standing, kneeling or bending, and specific vision capabilities. Mental demands involve directing others, effective communication with management, reading and writing comprehension, mathematical calculations, concentration amid distractions, detailed recall, and proficiency with computers and office equipment. • Occasionally lift up to 25 lb. • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. • Read, write, and comprehend instructions for giving and receiving directions. • Use computer, keyboard, telephone, and other office devices.
