Heavy Duty Cleaner, Full Time - 1st Shift

About the Role

The Heavy Duty Cleaner works full‑time on the first shift under the supervision of the Custodial Manager or Supervisor for C&W Services. The role involves performing a variety of custodial duties in line with C&W’s established standards, instructions, and procedures. Key responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, washing floors and other interior surfaces, and operating light and heavy commercial floor buffers and shampoo machines. The cleaner vacuums rugs, spot‑cleans and shampoos them as directed, and dusts furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, chairs, door trim, light fixtures, and other horizontal surfaces, including periodic high‑dusting. Additional tasks involve cleaning interior glass, windowsills, doors, and walls, maintaining bathrooms, restocking paper supplies, monitoring fixtures for defects, and handling trash collection and liner replacement. The role also requires snow removal from building entrances and walkways and periodic high‑dusting, leather and wood polishing, and wall washing. • Sweep, mop, and wash interior floors and surfaces. • Operate commercial floor buffers and shampoo machines. • Vacuum and spot‑clean rugs in offices and public areas. • Dust furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, chairs, door trim, and light fixtures; perform periodic high‑dusting. • Clean interior glass, windowsills, doors, and walls. • Maintain and restock bathrooms, including cleaning fixtures and monitoring for defects. • Collect and dispose of building trash; replace waste basket liners. • Remove snow from building entrances and walkways as directed. • Perform periodic high‑dusting, leather and wood polishing, and wall washing. • Follow directions, work with minimal supervision, and collaborate as part of a team. • Use cleaning tools and equipment, including backpack‑style portable vacuums.

What You Bring

No prior cleaning experience is required, but candidates must be able to follow directions, work with minimal supervision, and cooperate as part of a team. The ability to use standard cleaning tools and equipment, including backpack‑style portable vacuums, is essential, as is attention to detail, strong service orientation, organization, high energy, and endurance. Compensation ranges from $18.44 to $21.69 CAD per hour, subject to collective bargaining agreements, location, market rates, and candidate experience.
