About the Role

The Purchasing Estimator is responsible for all aspects of material take‑offs, including verification of change requests and assistance with material EPO review. The role also involves performing cost‑analysis recommendations on proposed plan changes, supporting the goal of building zero‑defect homes while managing costs and schedules. Key duties include creating and maintaining take‑offs for existing, new, and revised plans—initially focused on framing—interacting with Purchasing, Operations, and architectural consultants to confirm changes, and analyzing plans to recommend cost‑effective design ideas. The estimator also reviews material EPO requests to ensure alignment with scopes of work, conducts field verification of quantities, and handles special‑project take‑offs as needed. • Create material take‑offs for existing, new, and revised plans, starting with framing. • Maintain and update take‑offs for all active projects. • Verify take‑off change requests with Purchasing and Operations departments. • Coordinate with architects and engineers on plan changes affecting take‑offs. • Conduct cost‑analysis and research costs of proposed design ideas. • Review and eliminate unnecessary material EPO requests. • Complete special‑project take‑offs and verify field quantities. • Provide cost recommendations for plan modifications.

What You Bring

Applicants must have at least two years of residential construction or architecture experience and a high school diploma (associate degree preferred). The position requires a strong understanding of residential construction, architectural, structural, and MEP design, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to work with JD Edwards, Build Pro, and other proprietary software. Candidates should be detail‑oriented, possess strong problem‑solving and communication skills, hold a valid driver’s license, and be able to work independently under pressure. • Minimum two years residential construction or architecture experience required. • High School Diploma required; Associate degree preferred. • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, JD Edwards, Build Pro, and other proprietary software. • Strong organizational, writing, and problem‑solving skills; detail‑oriented. • Valid driver’s license and ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
