About the Role

Our Transportation team in Manchester is expanding, and we are hiring a full‑time permanent Project Engineer – Civil Engineering for the Rail team. You will represent Mace with key clients, ensure successful delivery of assignments, and provide strategic direction aligned with the company’s vision and objectives, working three days per week from our Manchester office. • Coordinate work with other contractors. • Liaise with route engineers. • Participate in engineering and development assurance to deliver affordable, safe and environmentally responsible schemes. • Consider safety, reliability, maintainability, construction ease and whole‑life issues in engineering assurance. • Review compliance with relevant standards. • Apply risk identification and evaluation methods such as HAZOP and QRA. • Develop and assure the selected engineering option. • Prepare full engineering assurance packages for detailed design and address clarifications. • Conduct engineering verifications. • Manage engineering interfaces across multiple disciplines. • Produce and secure approval for method statements for site works and surveys. • Verify competence of contractors’ design, construction and specialist personnel (e.g., CEM/CRE).

What You Bring

• Preferably be a chartered engineer with a relevant BSc/BEng degree and at least three years of experience. • Demonstrate understanding of CDM 2015 and CSM 2013 regulations, especially asset protection requirements. • Know Network Rail’s handback, track support zone and quality management processes. • Have direct experience working with Network Rail.
