About the Role

The Inside Sales Representative at R.P. Lumber in Clinton, MO assists customers and contractors via phone, email, website, or in person, providing quotes, product information, and order placement while upholding high customer service standards. Physical duties include frequent standing, walking, handling merchandise, and lifting up to 50‑100 lb occasionally, with work performed in showroom, warehouse, and outdoor environments. • Respond to customer inquiries, provide quotes, schedule deliveries/installations, and follow up as needed. • Resolve customer complaints, escalating to Retail or General Manager when required. • Accurately code and input orders, pricing, and generate invoices, work orders, and sales tickets in the POS system. • Operate and balance cash register daily. • Research credits, returns, and delinquent payments. • Assist customers with special‑order products using supplier catalog information. • Coordinate with credit department to obtain credit info and collect delinquent accounts. • Maintain inventory, product displays, and pricing labels; stock, face, straighten, and clean showroom merchandise. • Transport merchandise for customer pickup or delivery and help minimize inventory shrinkage. • Collaborate with Outside Sales Representatives to address order and product questions. • Develop estimating skills for material take‑offs on construction projects. • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and contractors. • Pursue ongoing sales technique training and expand product/industry knowledge. • Follow safety procedures, attend safety meetings, and suggest improvements. • Perform additional duties such as cutting glass or Plexiglas, mixing paint, or cutting keys as assigned.

What You Bring

The role requires thorough product knowledge, adherence to company sales and reporting procedures, and a commitment to safety, accountability, and showroom cleanliness; the Retail Manager is the direct supervisor. • Prior sales experience or knowledge of building materials and construction preferred. • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with active listening. • Proficient with Bistrack POS, Microsoft Word & Excel, and intermediate 3rd‑party software. • Excellent organizational, mathematical, and computer skills. • Ability to deliver professional customer service in a team environment. • High school diploma or GED; 1+ year related experience preferred. • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (Class E for Missouri). • Highly organized with keen attention to detail. • Pass pre‑employment drug test, background check, and driver history verification. • Frequent use of hands, standing, walking, and ability to lift 10‑25 lb regularly (up to 50‑100 lb occasionally). • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch; work in showroom/warehouse and variable outdoor conditions.
