About the Role

The successful candidate will be expected to work independently, manage their workload effectively, and adhere to health and safety regulations while maintaining tools, equipment and the company vehicle. Participation in an out‑of‑hours emergency rota and accurate recording of job details using handheld devices is required. • Carry out responsive plumbing repairs in occupied properties • Diagnose and repair leaks, blockages, and drainage issues • Replace taps, toilets, cisterns, basins and other sanitary ware • Repair or replace pipework, valves and fittings • Investigate and resolve hot‑water system and radiator problems • Ensure work complies with plumbing regulations and health‑safety standards • Record job details, materials and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets • Remove, repair or replace bath panels for maintenance or leak detection, refitting them professionally • Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicle in good condition • Work respectfully in residents’ homes, keeping the environment clean and safe • Identify and report additional works, safeguarding concerns or property issues • Participate in the out‑of‑hours emergency rota as required

What You Bring

Mears Group is seeking an experienced, dependable plumber to join its expanding team on a busy responsive repairs contract in Medway. The role involves hands‑on plumbing repairs and maintenance in occupied social‑housing properties, ranging from fixing leaks and replacing taps to diagnosing complex heating or drainage issues. You will work directly with residents, requiring a professional approach and strong customer‑service skills, and will contribute to improving housing standards in the community. All applicants must have a full UK driving licence, be over 21, have held the licence for at least three months and have fewer than nine points. The role requires the right to work in the UK, and candidates will undergo background, identity and security checks before starting. • Proven experience in domestic plumbing repairs and maintenance • Full UK driving licence (over 21, held ≥3 months, ≤9 points) • Ability to work independently and manage workload • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills • Excellent customer service experience in occupied homes • Good understanding of health‑and‑safety regulations and safe working practices • Proficiency with handheld devices or job‑management systems for recording work • Willingness to join out‑of‑hours emergency rota
