About the Role
The position requires the creation of a safe working environment, production of subcontract documentation, management of subcontract work packages, and timely handling of change and compensation events. The incumbent will prepare monthly applications, cost reports, and detailed cost plans, and will work closely with the Project Manager to plan expenditures and mitigate cost risks. They will also attend weekly progress and risk reduction meetings and support the development of commercial staff. • Lead commercial administration of contracts as Project Commercial Lead. • Produce and negotiate subcontract documents, terms, prices and programmes. • Manage subcontract work packages, assess interim payments and handle change management. • Issue commercial notices and compensation event quotations in line with contract requirements. • Prepare and submit monthly applications, cost reports, CVRs and detailed cost plans using Oracle. • Collaborate with the Project Manager to plan expenditure, evaluate cost reports and mitigate cost risks. • Attend weekly progress and risk reduction meetings with clients and subcontractors. • Support and develop commercial staff, fostering wellbeing and professional growth.

What You Bring
Galliford Try is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor based in or around Guildford, with travel across multiple sites in the region. The role involves acting as the Project Commercial Lead and delivering commercial excellence across design‑and‑build projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with a main contractor on design‑and‑build projects, a solid understanding of JCT and NEC contracts, and familiarity with MOJ frameworks and PPC 2000. A degree and membership (or progression towards membership) of RICS or IOB is required, together with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. • Experience on design‑and‑build projects for a main contractor with knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts. • Understanding of MOJ frameworks and PPC 2000. • Degree qualified and member (or aspiring member) of RICS or IOB. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
