About the Role

HDR’s Field Services team delivers high‑quality infrastructure—including highways, bridges, water treatment plants, transit systems, and power facilities—by ensuring that designs are built to the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity. Construction managers, inspectors, resident engineers, and field specialists bring deep technical knowledge and hands‑on experience, setting industry benchmarks for resilient infrastructure. The Senior Civil Construction Inspector is responsible for overseeing field inspections to verify that civil infrastructure construction meets design specifications and quality expectations. This position provides leadership on site, supports team development, and works closely with project stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes. • Conduct and document observations of civil construction (roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, pipelines). • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies. • Mentor and supervise junior field staff as needed. • Collaborate with project managers and other field representatives. • Serve as the senior inspector on projects when required. • Perform additional duties related to inspection and quality assurance.

What You Bring

• Technical school or associate degree. • Caltrans experience. • Road and bridge experience. • Relevant industry certifications. • Ability to interpret construction schedules. • High school diploma or equivalent (or 8 years relevant inspection experience in lieu of diploma). • Minimum of 5 years construction inspection experience. • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). • Strong written communication skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Pass drug‑and‑alcohol screening per client and legal requirements. • No visa sponsorship available for this position.
