About the Role

Reporting to the Service Supervisor for the PowerGen Business Unit, the Field Service Engineer is responsible for planned preventative maintenance, unplanned reactive work, and scheduled repairs on MTU Kinetic Power Packs and diesel generators. The role requires travelling around the UK in a company‑provided vehicle, often involving overnight stays, and a flexible approach to working patterns. A 365/24/7 emergency on‑call rota is also part of the position. • Adhere to all relevant health and safety legislation. • Diagnose faults using specialised tools and communicate findings to customers. • Provide 365/24/7 emergency on‑call support as part of the field service rota. • Produce detailed technical reports for each completed job. • Perform service, repair and commissioning of Dynamic UPS, diesel engines, ancillaries and control systems. • Support project managers with installation, commissioning and testing of new power systems and balance‑of‑plant equipment. • Develop and maintain professional relationships with client stakeholders and suppliers.

What You Bring

Although the role is primarily home‑based, the engineer may need to work in the East Grinstead offices or workshops when not in the field. The job is physically demanding and requires a disciplined individual capable of meeting the high standards expected of a blue‑chip company. • Possess extensive field work experience in power generation. • Hold a mechanical or electrical engineering qualification, or equivalent industry experience. • Demonstrate knowledge of dynamic and static UPS, diesel/gas gensets and LV/MV turnkey solutions. • Experience with control systems and ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings. • Willingness to travel extensively across the UK, Ireland and overseas and work away from home.
