About the Role
The role involves applying software‑engineering principles to create and refine parametric engineering designs, analyzing existing Java code, and maintaining documentation over time. Agile methodologies, including Scrum, will be used for product development, and the intern will participate in continuous‑improvement activities such as Kaizen and value‑stream‑mapping events. Collaboration with engineering and software teams, development of test cases, and support for hardware infrastructure are also key components. • Apply software engineering principles to develop and optimize parametric engineering designs. • Analyze and document existing Java code for the commercial airside product suite. • Use Agile methodologies, including Scrum, to drive product development and continuous improvement. • Create and execute test cases to validate product designs and software functionality. • Support backend development for the next‑generation cloud‑based selection software. • Maintain and optimize hardware infrastructure that supports software performance. • Collaborate with engineering and software teams and participate in Kaizen and VSM events. • Attend company networking events, lunch‑and‑learns, and shadow multiple office roles.

What You Bring
Carrier is looking for a motivated, results‑oriented college student to join the Commercial Airside (AHU) New Product Development team as a 2025 intern/co‑op. The internship provides hands‑on, challenging work that applies classroom knowledge to real‑world projects, focusing on programming and optimizing selection software for new products and options. Interns will contribute directly to the growth of the Commercial Airside business. Applicants must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related engineering field with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship. Preferred skills include proficiency in Java, XML, VBA, JavaScript, SQL, cloud computing, and familiarity with Agile practices, as well as strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities. Experience with PTC Creo, Windchill, HVAC design, or sheet‑metal and electrical design is considered a plus. • Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related engineering field (GPA ≥ 3.0). • Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. • Proficient in Java, XML, and database concepts; experienced with VBA, JavaScript, SQL, and cloud computing. • Familiar with Agile/Scrum practices and possess strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
