About the Role
The Mechanical Shift Engineer supports the shift lead and Assistant Engineering Manager as the dedicated mechanical engineer for the building, delivering engineering excellence across the full spectrum of services. The role involves assisting the wider team and client with tasks beyond pure mechanical expertise when required. • Issue site permits as part of the Safe System of Work. • Complete preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive tasks, updating Corrigo CAFM work orders. • Perform daily checks, report defects via FM helpdesk, and ensure timely repairs. • Identify, order, and install required materials promptly. • Comply with statutory and company health, safety, and environmental regulations. • Implement and record statutory inspections in designated logbooks. • Review and sign off specialist service provider worksheets, inspect work quality, and escalate recommendations. • Maintain high housekeeping standards in plant areas, workshops, stores, and changing/rest areas. • Troubleshoot building systems including BMS/electrical monitoring, HVAC, humidifiers, air handling, chillers, VAV & FCU, domestic water, plumbing, pumps, motors, variable speed drives, gas boilers, and hot water calorifiers.

What You Bring
All applicants must provide valid proof of right to work in the UK and identification at interview, and successful candidates will be required to undergo a DBS check at the company’s expense. • Operate all building systems competently and efficiently. • C&G or equivalent Mechanical Engineering qualification. • NVQ Level 2 equivalent in Plumbing & Heating Systems. • Pressure Systems Certification of Competencies. • Legionella Awareness – L8 ACOP. • FGAS or Gas Safe trained. • Knowledge of current health and safety legislation and safe working practices. • Strong administrative, organisational, and computer skills.
