About the Role

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments depending on the line of business and truck type. They transport waste or recyclable material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once the legal load capacity is reached. Commercial Drivers provide pick‑up service for containers that can weigh over 1,000 pounds and may need to maneuver wheeled containers to a pick‑up stage area. Residential Drivers collect household waste or recyclables and must safely navigate residential environments, while Roll‑off Drivers prepare, load, and transport large open‑top or compactor containers, often working in tight overhead spaces. Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential for all driver roles. • Operate vehicle in compliance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) documentation. • Report unsafe conditions, service issues, incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage to Operations Manager or Dispatch immediately. • Attend all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required. • Work with Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and share best practices. • Notify Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions such as closed streets, heavy receptacles, or safety hazards. • Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Fully dump receptacles and leave the customer's location clean and free of debris. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and check‑out process. • Perform scheduled duties and assist other drivers as needed to meet customer needs.
