About the Role
The Senior Demolition Oversight Technician in Novi, Michigan will provide local technical leadership for decommissioning, regulated material abatement, demolition, and environmental projects. The role ensures health, safety, environmental, quality, budget, and schedule goals are met while fostering communication and collaboration across the project team and clients. • Examine and interpret construction plans, specifications, schedules, and related documentation. • Monitor contractor work and conduct site inspections for compliance with project, regulatory, health, safety, and environmental requirements. • Perform material sampling as needed. • Provide leadership and direction to junior field staff during monitoring and oversight activities. • Generate accurate, concise documentation using electronic systems and field notebooks. • Prepare periodic (daily, weekly, monthly) progress reports for multiple sites. • Review contractor and consultant reports on material testing, identifying risks to project objectives. • Uphold ethical decision‑making and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies.

What You Bring
• High School Diploma required; 9+ years demolition oversight experience with regulated materials. • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, technical specifications, permits, test data, schedules, and budgets. • Knowledge of relevant environmental and construction laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences. • Self‑leadership with attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization in dynamic environments. • Capacity to work independently under general supervision and collaboratively within a team. • Physical ability to squat, bend, lift, climb, and navigate difficult terrain. • Basic proficiency with business writing, office automation, and communication software. • Proven safety record and compliance with health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies. • Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. • Preferred: Licensure as a Michigan Asbestos Building Inspector or ability to obtain it. • Preferred: Active participation in local professional practice organizations. • Preferred: Deep abatement and demolition oversight experience, including decommissioning, remediation, civil, and vertical construction oversight.
