About the Role
Key duties include responding to inquiries, processing orders and pricing in the Bistrack point‑of‑sale system, operating and balancing the cash register, and researching credits, returns, and delinquent payments. The representative also assists with special‑order items using supplier catalogs, collaborates with the credit department, maintains inventory and merchandising standards, transports merchandise, and works with outside sales staff to ensure customer satisfaction. Additional responsibilities involve developing estimating skills, building strong customer and contractor relationships, participating in sales‑technique training, observing safety procedures, and performing various store tasks such as cutting glass or mixing paint. • Respond to customer inquiries about product selection, orders, pricing, delivery, installation, and follow‑ups. • Listen to and resolve customer service complaints; seek manager assistance when needed. • Code and input orders, pricing, and data into the POS system, ensuring accurate invoices and tickets. • Operate and balance the cash register daily. • Research credits, returns, and delinquent payments. • Assist customers with special‑order products using supplier catalogs. • Cooperate with the credit department to obtain credit information and collect delinquent accounts. • Maintain inventory, product displays, and pricing labels per merchandising standards. • Transport merchandise for customer pickup or delivery. • Minimize inventory shrinkage and protect against shoplifting or internal theft. • Work with Outside Sales Representatives to ensure customer satisfaction regarding orders and product inquiries. • Develop estimating skills for material take‑offs on construction projects. • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and contractors. • Increase knowledge of sales techniques and product/industry through training. • Observe safety procedures, attend safety meetings, and suggest improvements. • Perform other store duties as assigned (e.g., cutting glass, mixing paint, cutting keys). • Provide professional customer service and work effectively in a team environment. • Work in showroom/warehouse and outdoor locations with temperature variations.

What You Bring
Successful candidates possess strong interpersonal and communication abilities, intermediate proficiency with the POS system and Microsoft Office, and solid organizational, mathematical, and computer skills. While prior sales or building‑materials experience is preferred, it is not required. A high school diploma or GED, at least one year of related experience, a valid Missouri Class E driver's license, and the ability to work flexible schedules—including weekends and holidays—are required, as is passing pre‑employment drug testing and background checks. The role is physically active, requiring frequent use of hands, standing, walking, and the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and lift 10‑25 lb regularly and up to 50‑100 lb occasionally.
