About the Role

The engineer will oversee geotechnical projects throughout Colorado and neighboring areas, direct field exploration programs, conduct advanced analyses such as slope stability and foundation design, and produce technical reports and proposals. They will also coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams, while ensuring projects stay within scope, schedule, and budget. • Manage and execute geotechnical projects across Colorado and surrounding regions • Conduct and supervise field exploration programs (soil borings, test pits, CPTs, geophysical surveys) • Perform advanced geotechnical analyses (slope stability, settlement, foundations, earth retention systems) • Prepare and review geotechnical reports, proposals, and technical deliverables • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams throughout project lifecycle • Mentor junior staff and provide feedback on technical work • Ensure compliance with project scopes, schedules, and budgets

What You Bring

ECS is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Project Engineer for its Denver, CO office. This hybrid role blends field and office duties, allowing the engineer to lead complex geotechnical projects and mentor junior staff within a consulting environment. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s preferred), possess a Colorado PE license or obtain one within six months, and have at least six years of consulting geotechnical experience. Proficiency with software like gINT, LPile, and Slope/W, familiarity with CAD/MicroStation, and strong knowledge of subsurface investigations, design principles, and foundation systems are required, along with excellent communication skills. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, experience in proposal writing and business development, project management experience with DOT or large‑scale commercial, residential, municipal, and retail clients, and active involvement in professional societies such as ASCE, DFI, or the Geo‑Institute. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s preferred) • PE license in Colorado or ability to obtain within 6 months • Minimum 6 years consulting geotechnical experience • Proficiency with geotechnical software (gINT, LPile, Slope/W, Slide, Settle3D, etc.) • Familiarity with CAD and/or MicroStation • Strong understanding of subsurface investigations, lab testing, and design principles • Experience with foundation systems, retaining structures, ground improvement, and forensic investigations • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering • Experience in proposal writing and business development • Project management experience with DOT or large-scale commercial, residential, municipal, retail clients • Active participation in professional organizations (ASCE, DFI, Geo-Institute)

Benefits

The position offers a salary range of $90,000‑$125,000 per year, adjusted for location and individual qualifications.
