About the Role

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of equipment—including front‑end loaders, motor graders, excavators, dozers, scrapers, tractors, and other light and medium machines—to perform land clearing, excavation, grading, and utility work on heavy civil, industrial, and wind projects. Key duties include promoting and adhering to all company safety policies, operating equipment safely, building and grading terrain, driving blade‑equipped machines to remove topsoil and vegetation, loading materials onto trucks, excavating OSHA‑compliant trenches, coordinating movements with crew signals, maintaining clear communication, performing routine maintenance, and traveling to multiple job sites on short notice. • Operate front‑end loaders, graders, excavators, dozers, and additional heavy equipment. • Perform land clearing, excavation, grading, and utility installation for various projects. • Follow all company safety policies and attend daily toolbox meetings. • Coordinate machine actions with crew signals and maintain clear communication. • Conduct routine equipment maintenance and complete daily maintenance reports. • Load dirt, stone, and waste onto trucks using appropriate equipment. • Excavate trenches to OSHA specifications and grade terrain with blade passes. • Travel to different job sites on short notice as required. • Apply basic math for weight and volume calculations during operations. • Work 12‑hour shifts, lift up to 50 lb, and perform repetitive physical tasks in varied weather.

What You Bring

Candidates should have 1–3 years of related experience, with at least one year operating heavy equipment, and be familiar with MIC Health and Safety programs, toolbox meetings, and the ability to read safety and maintenance documentation. Basic mathematical skills for weight and volume calculations, strong procedural adherence, and the ability to follow written or oral instructions are required. The role demands up to 12‑hour shifts in varying weather conditions, frequent lifting of objects up to 50 lb, and repetitive physical activity such as pushing, pulling, kneeling, and climbing. Workers must wear required personal protective equipment, be able to work at heights and in confined spaces, and possess good visual, auditory, and coordination abilities. • Possess 1–3 years of heavy‑equipment operation experience (minimum 1 year). • Understand MIC Health and Safety programs and read safety/maintenance manuals. • Wear required PPE and be capable of working at heights and in confined spaces.

Compensation ranges from $28.00 to $31.50 per hour, with performance‑based merit increases.
