About the Role

The position contributes to Constellation’s growth by driving sales of power, gas, and alternative energy solutions throughout the territory. • Prospect and build relationships with Fortune 500 customers in Michigan. • Develop and present customized energy plans, hedging strategies, and alternative energy solutions (e.g., demand response, solar, energy efficiency). • Drive sales of power, gas, and alternative energy products to achieve gross margin quotas. • Identify high‑level decision makers, generate leads, and close new business contracts. • Travel within the territory and occasional overnight trips for client meetings and training. • Champion Constellation’s core values, promote diversity and inclusion, and mentor team members. • Meet or exceed sales metrics and KPIs.

What You Bring

This is a territory‑based field sales position serving clients across Michigan. Candidates must reside in Michigan—preferably in Lansing, Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, or Detroit—and will work primarily from home. Travel expenses are reimbursed under Constellation’s standard travel policy. The position can be filled at either the Associate Business Development Manager or Business Development Manager level, each with specific experience requirements. Associates need a bachelor’s degree (or six years of experience) and at least two years of relevant experience, while Managers require a bachelor’s degree (or nine years of experience) and five years of sales experience. • Communicate effectively in large‑group presentations and stakeholder meetings. • Maintain strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. • Hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and relevant sales experience (2+ years for Associate, 5+ years for Manager). • Leverage an established network of contacts within business and government sectors (preferred).

Benefits

The role offers a competitive total rewards package. Associate Business Development Managers earn a base salary of $71,100‑$79,000, while Business Development Managers earn $93,600‑$104,000, both supplemented by commission. Additional benefits include a bonus program, 401(k) match, employee stock purchase plan, comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage, a wellness program, and paid time off for vacation, holidays and sick days.
