About the Role
• Lead business development by cultivating client relationships and directing proposal preparation • Manage multiple projects at various stages and locations • Direct project teams for key clients • Develop and implement public involvement strategies, attending open houses, meetings, and hearings • Serve as subject matter expert for siting and environmental permitting • Oversee routing and siting studies, analyses, and related reports • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, attorneys, planners, and real estate experts • Mentor staff to foster professional growth • Make ethical decisions regarding company resources and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct • Work independently while providing leadership and ensuring QA/QC compliance • Prepare proposals, presentations, and pricing structures • Apply critical thinking and problem‑solving from field data to effective solutions • Maintain a proven safety record and follow WSP health, safety, and harassment policies

What You Bring
The position focuses on electric transmission line and substation routing, siting, and renewable energy development across Rhode Island and neighboring states. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in Rhode Island, familiarity with the Rhode Island Energy Facility and Siting Board, and demonstrates collaborative, responsive communication and strong organizational abilities. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in environmental or related field, or equivalent experience • Possess 10+ years of experience managing environmental permitting and planning for energy projects • Demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal communication across all organization levels • Know New England state agency personnel and decision‑makers • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication, defining client requirements and managing expectations • Adapt to flexible schedules, prioritize tasks, and thrive under pressure • Travel occasionally as project needs dictate • Preferred: Master’s degree in a related environmental discipline • Preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification • Preferred: Experience with contract negotiations and management • Preferred: Experience providing expert witness testimony
