About the Role

In this role you will serve as the site technical expert, mentor apprentices, and ensure compliance with safety and technical standards. You will design, develop, implement, and optimize control systems and software, maintain and troubleshoot PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks, and follow strict documentation and Automation Change Management procedures. Partnering with operations, engineering, and support teams, you will monitor material handling equipment metrics, analyze performance issues, conduct root‑cause analysis, and lead continuous‑improvement projects both locally and remotely. • Design, develop, and implement automation control systems for industrial processes and warehouse equipment. • Serve as site technical expert, mentor apprentices, and ensure safety and compliance. • Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks, and material handling equipment. • Perform root cause analysis, monitor performance metrics, and lead continuous improvement projects.

What You Bring

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement automation control systems for industrial processes and warehouse distribution equipment. The role focuses on improving the reliability and performance of conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print‑and‑apply systems, and SCADA devices while adhering to safety‑first policies and procedures. Required qualifications include a four‑year degree or equivalent experience, proven ability to lead, train, and mentor less‑experienced automation engineers, and proficiency with CMMS for troubleshooting and coordinating complex maintenance activities. Strong verbal and written English skills, a problem‑solving mindset, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential, as is flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Preferred qualifications are two or more years of PLC programming, troubleshooting, and HMI/control network design, as well as experience with SCADA systems and key performance indicators. Hands‑on expertise with motor controls, industrial electrical systems, RSLogix5000 Studio, FT View, and the ability to interpret or modify mechanical and electrical drawings are highly valued. Experience in field service engineering, technical training on conveyors, sortation, ASRS, industrial robotics, and remote technical support further strengthens a candidate’s profile. • Adhere to strict documentation and Automation Change Management procedures. • Required: 4‑year degree or equivalent, leadership and mentoring ability, CMMS proficiency, strong English communication, problem‑solving mindset, flexible shift availability. • Preferred: 2+ years PLC programming, HMI/SCADA experience, motor control expertise, RSLogix5000/FT View skills, ability to read/modify mechanical and electrical drawings, field service and remote support experience. • Location: On‑site in Richmond, TX; U.S. work authorization required (no visa sponsorship).
