Job Highlights
About the Role
You will provide day‑to‑day technical transport‑planning input on development projects, collaborating with peers and senior colleagues across the Development Planning team and the wider WSP business. The position offers the opportunity to develop project‑management and commercial skills while leading transport‑planning contributions on selected projects with support from the wider team. • Conduct transport assessments, travel plans, access and parking strategies, and sustainable/active travel provision using NPPF, DfT TA guidelines and Manual for Streets. • Prepare traffic flow data for Transport Assessments or Environmental Statements. • Operate junction capacity modelling software (e.g., Junctions 10, Linsig) and perform scenario testing. • Produce conceptual junction designs, including priority layouts, roundabouts and signal schemes. • Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, co‑professionals and stakeholders. • Share technical knowledge and mentor colleagues. • Lead transport‑planning input on projects, developing project‑management and commercial skills.

What You Bring
The successful candidate will demonstrate technical expertise in transport assessments, travel plans, access strategies, parking strategies and sustainable/active travel provision, and be familiar with guidance such as the NPPF, DfT Transport Assessment guidelines and the Manual for Streets. Strong communication abilities, proficiency in Excel, Word and junction‑capacity modelling tools, and a willingness to share knowledge with colleagues are also required. • Use day‑to‑day software such as Excel and Word proficiently.
