About the Role
The Transmission Equipment Operator is an entry‑level role focused on constructing, maintaining, and repairing electrical transmission systems. Work is performed at various locations and may require travel to other states depending on customer needs. Pike works with utilities to address energy‑infrastructure challenges, designing transmission and distribution systems, deploying smart‑meter technologies, and integrating renewable energy sources onto the grid. • Perform safe construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de‑energized overhead transmission work. • String overhead wire and set poles and anchors. • Assist with installation of transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear. • Replace transformer fuses and clear faulted circuits. • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools. • Operate heavy equipment and use company radio properly. • Apply basic rigging, hand lines, and lineman knot tying techniques. • Identify primary and secondary voltage and recognize induced voltage. • Follow flag and tag procedures and minimum approach distances. • Inspect and use personal protective equipment and rubber goods correctly. • Install, hook up, and test single‑phase transformers. • Use hand lines and Kellum grips as required. • Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including inclement weather. • Follow all company safety rules and policies.

What You Bring
The job requires regular standing, walking, using hands, reaching, and lifting over 50 lb, as well as the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather and at heights or confined spaces. Employees must regularly talk or hear and be prepared for extended periods of work in diverse environments. • Perform basic bucket rescue/escape and work at heights or confined spaces. • 1–2 years of relevant experience. • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. • Obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of hire (CDL preferred). • Ability to travel long distances on short notice and work extended periods in various locations. • Ability to lift more than 50 lb and perform rigorous physical labor. • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and irregular schedules as needed. • Ability to properly inspect rubber goods and PPE. • Self‑motivated, team‑oriented, and customer‑focused.
