About the Role

The role provides hands‑on experience with large‑scale energy infrastructure compliance, including stormwater, construction, wildlife, and avian surveys. Interns will support project managers, conduct field inspections, and assist with data collection and reporting, while adhering to SWCA’s safety policies. • Support project managers and field leads with compliance inspections (SWPPP, construction, wildlife, avian surveys). • Create and maintain digital data collection applications (Fulcrum, ArcGIS Online, Survey123) and validate field data. • Conduct fieldwork across office locations and nearby states, including extended hikes and independent assignments. • Follow and promote SWCA’s safety program, promptly addressing hazards. • Perform office‑based tasks such as reporting and supporting project activities. • Utilize GPS devices and mapping software for data collection. • Produce technical documentation and species identification reports. • Apply basic knowledge of construction methods and equipment.

What You Bring

Candidates must be juniors or seniors pursuing a bachelor’s in an environmental field (or recent graduates), with a Master’s eligible but Ph.D. candidates ineligible. Required skills include natural‑resources fieldwork experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to learn new survey techniques and maintain a flexible schedule. Field work may constitute up to 75 % of the role, requiring travel, long hours in rugged terrain, and the capacity to carry equipment up to 40 lb. Applicants should be comfortable working in all weather conditions and able to integrate SWCA’s safety policies into daily tasks. Familiarity with GPS devices, digital data‑collection platforms (Fulcrum, ArcGIS Online, Survey123), technical writing, species identification, and basic construction methods are considered helpful.
