About the Role

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments, depending on the line of business. Commercial drivers transport waste or recyclable containers that can exceed 1,000 lb, while residential drivers collect household waste and must navigate tight residential areas. Roll‑off drivers load and move large open‑top or compactor containers, often working in confined industrial routes. All drivers must adhere to Waste Management safety rules, OSHA, DOT regulations, and applicable laws while performing their routes. They conduct thorough vehicle inspections, report hazards or incidents promptly, and keep detailed documentation. Ongoing training, collaboration with managers to improve route efficiency, and maintaining clean customer sites are integral to the role. • Operate vehicles in compliance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws. • Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR). • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, injuries, property damage, or service interruptions to the Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Attend all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required. • Work with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and identify best practices. • Dump all receptacles, leave customer locations clean, and follow route assignments. • Complete end-of-day documentation, check-out process, and assist other drivers as needed. • Participate in a stock purchase plan and a 401(k) plan with company match.

What You Bring

Candidates need at least one year of experience operating a CDL‑required vehicle or equivalent recent military driving, be at least 18 years old, and be legally authorized to work in the United States. A valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with an air‑brake endorsement is required; a high school diploma or GED is preferred. The job involves frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, and occasional sitting. Drivers must also be able to communicate clearly, hear instructions, and work in various weather and traffic conditions.
