About the Role

The Mechanical Fitter will develop manufacturing technology, set up, monitor and operate equipment in the facility, and undertake assembly and testing of Sub‑Sea equipment, including repairs to Baker Hughes Subsea Products where authorised. This role ensures that manufacturing processes align with client procedures and industry standards. Key duties include supporting assembly and testing of subsea equipment to uphold quality and Health, Safety, and Environmental standards; assembling components from specifications and drawings; setting up finished assemblies and testing them according to engineering procedures; and recording defects in the Quality Management System while exercising Stop Work Authority as required. The role also involves active participation in site safety initiatives such as pressure‑safety and lifting councils, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures. These initiatives help maintain a safe working environment and promote continuous improvement. • Support assembly and testing of subsea equipment to ensure quality and HSE compliance. • Assemble subsea components from specifications and drawings. • Set up and test finished assemblies according to engineering procedures. • Record defects using the Quality Management System and exercise Stop Work Authority when needed. • Participate in site safety initiatives, including pressure safety and lifting councils. • Read and interpret engineering documentation accurately.

What You Bring

To succeed, candidates must be a time‑served Mechanical Apprentice with an engineering qualification, have experience in mechanical assembly—preferably with subsea products—and be able to read and interpret engineering documentation while possessing solid HSE knowledge. Candidates must also demonstrate a strong understanding of HSE requirements and the ability to follow safety policies. • Hold a Mechanical Apprentice qualification with supporting engineering training. • Possess experience in mechanical assembly, preferably with subsea products. • Demonstrate strong knowledge of HSE requirements and follow safety procedures. • Work based in Montrose, UK with flexible working patterns.
