About the Role
The designer will interpret project requirements, scope, and deliverables, providing conceptual input during planning and identifying opportunities for quality improvement. They will create detailed drawings and layouts using BIM/CAD software, perform design tasks that rely on fundamental engineering concepts with minimal direction, and coordinate with design teams, stakeholders, and other disciplines to ensure seamless execution. Additionally, they will conduct BIM/CAD quality control, maintain drawing files according to company standards, act as a liaison between CAD managers and users, and support hiring, training, and mentoring activities while fostering a collaborative team environment. • Interpret project scope and deliverables to guide engineering decisions • Provide conceptual input during planning and identify quality improvements • Create detailed BIM/CAD drawings and layouts for utility projects • Perform design tasks using fundamental engineering concepts with minimal supervision • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders for seamless execution • Conduct BIM/CAD quality control and drive continuous improvement • Apply and maintain company CAD standards and drawing file organization • Serve as liaison between CAD managers and users to implement policies and new technologies • Participate in hiring, training, and mentoring of design team members • Promote self‑development, efficiency, and a collaborative team environment

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least eight years of engineering design and BIM/CAD technical support experience, with advanced expertise in Autodesk Civil 3D, including work with alignments, pressure and gravity pipe networks, surfaces, and data management. They should demonstrate strong problem‑solving abilities, adaptability, and the capacity to deliver accurate, high‑quality deliverables while communicating effectively at all organizational levels. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Preferred candidates hold an associate degree in BIM/CAD or Design/Drafting Technology and bring ten or more years of Autodesk Civil 3D experience designing pipelines. Experience translating design and data files across platforms such as GIS shapefiles, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Revit, and MicroStation is also valued. • Minimum 8 years of engineering design and BIM/CAD support experience • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D (alignments, pipe networks, surfaces, data management) • Demonstrated problem‑solving, adaptability, and ability to deliver high‑quality work • Effective communication with personnel at all organizational levels • High school diploma or equivalent (required) • Associate degree in BIM/CAD or Design/Drafting Technology (preferred) • 10+ years Autodesk Civil 3D experience designing pipelines (preferred) • Experience translating design/data files among GIS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Revit, and MicroStation (preferred)
