About the Role
Work hours are Monday‑Friday from 6:45 PM to 3:15 AM with occasional Saturday shifts and overtime as needed. Employees work in a repair/maintenance shop at WM’s Chicago, IL hauling site, ensuring consistent scheduling for financial stability. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will service trucks and equipment that support over 20 million customers nationwide, using modern tools to maintain diesel and, at some locations, CNG fleets. The job offers pride in keeping essential vehicles running safely for the community. • Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems. • Estimate repair time and material costs. • Respond to emergency breakdown service calls. • Perform vehicle safety checks. • Document parts usage and repair times on required paperwork. • Assist senior mechanics with project tasks. • Review and address Driver Vehicle Inspection Report repairs. • Maintain a clean, OSHA‑compliant work environment. • Meet physical demands such as frequent lifting, standing, and climbing.

What You Bring
• Complete work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs). • Possess at least 2 years of relevant mechanical experience. • Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean record. • Be 18 years or older and eligible to work in the United States. • Pass pre‑employment drug screening and physical examination. • Demonstrate teamwork, independent work capability, and problem‑solving attitude. • Adapt to varied daily challenges and prioritize safety.
