What You Bring

The Automation Engineer Apprentice role is based on‑site in Leeds, part of a UK Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship Programme with a salary of £23,000. Apprentices will work within Schneider Electric’s digital manufacturing team to optimise and automate manual processes and improve automation tool performance. Essential attributes include understanding safe and secure automation equipment, cybersecurity compliance, automation communication protocols, and project‑management skills. Desirable traits are adaptability, flexibility in a fast‑paced production environment, and curiosity about Industry 4.0 technologies. Applicants must have a minimum of 112 tariff points, five GCSEs (including Maths, English and a STEM subject) at grades C/4 or above, and an A‑level in Maths at grade B. No prior work experience is required, but a demonstrable interest in engineering is expected. On‑the‑job training provides supervision and skills beyond the apprenticeship, while off‑the‑job training accounts for at least 20 % of working time (average six hours per week) to achieve occupational competence. The position follows a 37.5‑hour week, Monday to Friday, with start and finish times set with the line manager.
