The Gas Operations team is hiring an entry‑level Gas Worker Trainee, with work‑arrangement details to be discussed during the interview. The program lasts 18‑24 months, after which successful trainees become journeyman‑level Gas First Response employees. Work involves outdoor environments in all weather conditions, moderate to heavy physical activity, and operation of tools, equipment, and computers. A Washington State driver’s license is required, and advancing to a Customer Field Service Technician will require low‑voltage electrical licenses (06B and possibly 07D). Minimum qualifications include effective written and oral communication, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to maintain required certifications and safety regulations. A Commercial Driver’s License with endorsements may be needed, and compliance with DOT Pipeline Operator Regulations is essential. Prior construction experience is a plus. • Complete 9 months of classroom training in Puyallup followed by 9‑15 months of field training. • Work independently, often at night and in customer homes, while wearing required PPE. • Maintain a valid Washington driver’s license; CDL and low‑voltage electrical licenses may be required. • Communicate effectively with customers and crew members, both written and verbally. • Pass company assessment, physical agility test, and pre‑employment drug screening. • Must reside in one of five service‑area counties and be willing to work alternating weekends and emergency shifts.

Starting pay is $29.18 per hour with step increases and annual raises; after completing the program, the journey‑level rate will be $54.70. Candidates must reside in one of five Washington counties, pass an assessment test, and undergo pre‑employment screening including a physical agility assessment and drug testing. The position is represented by the UA union, is safety‑sensitive, and requires alternating shifts, weekends, and emergency call‑outs.
