About the Role

The gauge setter reviews engineering prints for limitations and specifications, selects and distributes appropriate standards, sets up gauges as required, and verifies or creates new standards. They also clean gauges and inform the chief gauge setter when major repairs are needed. The role includes performing component dimension, roundness, and profile tracing measurements, interpreting the results, and inspecting all pieces of a scheduled lot for dimensional or visual characteristics. This may involve checking for defective components, inspecting returned merchandise, and sizing parts for the assembly department. The incumbent operates and maintains specialized equipment such as magnaflux units, natal etch systems, optical comparators, and hardness testers, ensuring these systems are tested and kept clean. They also handle the movement of part containers within the inspection area using baskets, hoists, or hand carts. Accurate record‑keeping is essential; the employee fills out inspection reports, rework tickets, scrap tickets, sizing tickets, production cards, and other required paperwork. They also prepare and pack components for shipment, complete receiving inspections, and perform induction HT inspections using various software tools. • Set up and verify gauges, review drawings, and create new standards. • Perform dimensional, roundness, and profile tracing inspections and interpret results. • Inspect scheduled lots for dimensional and visual characteristics, including defect detection. • Operate and maintain magnaflux, natal etch, optical comparators, and hardness testers. • Complete inspection documentation, rework, scrap, sizing tickets, and production cards. • Prepare, pack, and ship components with accurate paperwork. • Utilize software such as Microsoft Office, Oracle, Engage, and SharePoint for inspections. • Adhere to ethics, safety, export/import, environmental compliance, and AS‑9100 standards.
