About the Role

The Intellectual Property & Data Rights Specialist role in Huntsville, AL, leads configuration identification, control standards, release management, and IP analysis for a Project Office. This position drives digital management excellence and disciplined configuration control to ensure technical accuracy, program integrity, and readiness across key assets, directly impacting mission success and long‑term modernization of Army aviation programs. Key responsibilities include developing a total lifecycle configuration management (CM) program plan, integrating CM requirements into acquisition and sustainment strategies, and supporting Army Aviation acquisition efforts through research and analysis of technical data and software rights. The specialist also assesses data‑rights assertions, creates briefings for division and project leadership, researches CDRL deliverables, and supports working groups on IP and data‑rights issues. Additional duties involve building a repository of IP and data‑rights assertions, crafting product‑specific intellectual‑property strategies, coordinating management activities to ensure data visibility and proper use, reviewing configuration control actions, and validating government‑furnished information markings before release. • Develop and integrate a total lifecycle configuration management program into acquisition and sustainment plans. • Support Army Aviation acquisition by researching and obtaining required technical data and software rights. • Assess data‑rights assertions within technical data packages to identify program risks. • Prepare briefings for division chiefs and project managers on IP and data‑rights matters. • Research and analyze CDRL deliverables related to IP and data‑rights, providing decision‑maker guidance. • Participate in working groups covering IP, data‑rights, government use cases, and rights assertions. • Create and maintain a repository of IP and data‑rights assertions for weapon system development. • Develop product‑specific IP strategies that protect government data rights and support acquisition/sustainment. • Coordinate management activities to ensure data visibility, access, and appropriate use of technical data. • Review configuration control actions to guarantee authorized change management implementation. • Validate government‑furnished information markings and resolve any marking issues before release.

What You Bring

Basic qualifications require a bachelor’s degree with eight years of IP analysis experience (or sixteen years of related experience in lieu of a degree), a Secret clearance, and familiarity with Data Rights laws and policies such as FAR/DFAR clauses, Army Directive 2018‑26, and DoDI 5230.44. Experience in government acquisitions offices and knowledge of U.S. Army staffing processes are also needed. • Bachelor’s degree with 8 + years IP analysis experience (or 16 years related experience). • Active Secret clearance and knowledge of FAR/DFAR, Army Directive 2018‑26, DoDI 5230.44, and related statutes. • Experience in IP/Data Rights assessments within a government acquisitions office. • Understanding of U.S. Army staffing processes and procedures. • Preferred: prior IP/Data Rights work in PEO Aviation.
