CDL Truck Driver - Residential Rearload Driver
Drive a CDL truck to collect and drop off residential waste/recycling, ensuring safe loading.
Job Highlights
About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with lift attachments to transport waste or recyclables to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. Depending on the line of business, drivers may perform residential collection, commercial pick‑up of containers that can exceed 1,000 lb, or roll‑off services that require loading large open‑top containers and navigating tight industrial routes, all of which demand skilled backing maneuvers. • Operate vehicles in compliance with WM Safety, OSHA, DOT, and all local, state, and federal regulations. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. • Report unsafe conditions, service issues, incidents, accidents, and property damage to the Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Attend required trainings, briefings, and meetings and cooperate with the Route Manager to improve route efficiency. • Communicate customer requests and service interruptions promptly to Operations or Dispatch. • Safely unload receptacles, leaving the site clean and free of debris. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and assist other drivers as needed.

What You Bring
The role requires adherence to WM safety rules, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws, as well as completion of pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and reporting of unsafe conditions. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing. • Hold a valid Class A or Class B CDL with air‑brake endorsement (or 1 year equivalent military driving experience within the last 7 years). • Be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States. • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED. • Physical tasks include standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing.
