About the Role

The Production Shift Supervisor oversees shift-level operations, ensuring safe, productive material processing and adherence to production schedules. The role requires coordination with other functions and accurate record-keeping to support timely delivery of products. In addition to supervising frontline activities, the supervisor manages staff through performance evaluations, time-off approvals, training, disciplinary actions, and involvement in hiring processes. • Supervise crews processing materials to meet customer specifications safely. • Analyze work orders, estimate labor hours, and develop production schedules. • Assign equipment and personnel to optimize material flow and cost efficiency. • Calculate required inventory levels and requisition supplies according to production plans. • Communicate product specifications and job orders to workers, assigning duties accordingly. • Coordinate quality-control inspections to ensure compliance with standards. • Adjust work procedures as needed to meet schedule demands and improve efficiency. • Develop and implement improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality. • Recommend changes to working conditions and equipment usage to increase shop efficiency. • Resolve work problems and assist staff in problem-solving. • Maintain time and production records and support the safety program. • Conduct performance evaluations, create improvement plans, and approve paid time-off. • Provide on-the-job training, guidance, and disciplinary actions. • Interview and select candidates for open positions.

What You Bring

Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, supervisory background in wood products or manufacturing, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with standard office software. • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and 2‑4 years relevant experience. • Supervisory experience in wood products or similar manufacturing environments. • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication abilities. • Proficiency with email, spreadsheet, database, word-processing, and presentation software.
