About the Role
The Commercial Manager is accountable for providing commercial assurance across the delivery teams, delivering independent oversight to the Head of Commercial and ensuring effective contract and cost control throughout the project lifecycle. In addition to operational duties, the manager leads the commercial team, approves change and risk draw‑downs in line with corporate governance, and develops policies and processes that embed best practice and a collaborative culture within the Integrated Project Team. • Provide commercial assurance to the Head of Commercial for all delivery activities. • Administer NEC3 contract obligations, including variations, compensation events, payments and performance incentives. • Maintain effective cost verification and monitor contract performance. • Analyse supply‑chain monthly reports and input performance data into MBR reports. • Participate in contract and programme performance reviews and update final cost estimates. • Support settlement of supply‑chain disputes and offer day‑to‑day commercial advice to the client team. • Identify project‑saving opportunities and develop proposals or business cases for approval. • Foster a collaborative culture within the Integrated Project Team, encouraging innovation and best practice. • Lead and review cost estimates at all project stages. • Approve change and risk draw‑downs in accordance with corporate governance requirements. • Lead commercial resources, set objectives, manage performance and support staff development. • Develop and maintain efficient contract and commercial management policies, processes and procedures. • Promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in all aspects of work. • Manage high‑value, delivery‑critical contracts for complex infrastructure projects. • Build and sustain value‑driven commercial relationships with the supply chain. • Negotiate and resolve disputes with internal and external parties. • Lead commercial management teams on infrastructure projects and programmes. • Work with publicly funded bodies and oversee procurement and tender processes. • Utilise commercial management and reporting systems effectively.

Benefits
The role offers a base salary of £50,119 to £58,963 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, plus a 20 % flexible benefits fund that is fully pensionable.
