About the Role

The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Manager and leads a shop that supports post‑collection facilities. The role oversees a team of technicians who perform preventive maintenance and repairs on a fleet of trucks, containers and other heavy‑duty equipment, ensuring compliance with company safety standards and federal and state regulations. Key duties include planning and scheduling repair work, conducting daily shop huddles and fleet walks, coaching and counseling technicians, and managing hiring, termination, training and performance evaluations in partnership with Human Resources. The supervisor also performs quality‑control inspections, oversees complex diagnostics, controls inventory, approves expenses within budget, and maintains detailed maintenance records in Dossier Maintenance Software. • Direct A, B, and C level technicians to perform safe, efficient, and timely repairs and preventive maintenance. • Monitor operational performance, adjust activities, and report on metrics with recommendations for improvements. • Conduct daily shop huddles, fleet walks, and quality‑control inspections to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. • Coach, counsel, and train technicians; manage hiring, terminations, performance evaluations, and merit recommendations with HR. • Oversee complex diagnostics, road‑test vehicles, and provide technical guidance on engine, emission, transmission, brake, hydraulic, electrical, HVAC and welding issues. • Manage shop inventory levels, approve purchases within budget, and track expenses and major repair approvals. • Maintain accurate maintenance records in Dossier Maintenance Software and ensure proper documentation of preventive and corrective actions. • Prepare departmental budgets, set goals aligned with division targets, and manage payroll and employee records.

What You Bring

The supervisor must maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission, transmission, brake, hydraulic, electrical, HVAC and welding systems to diagnose and repair equipment efficiently and safely, both on‑site and on the road. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, ASE certifications (T2‑T7 and Master Certified), at least three years of heavy‑equipment maintenance experience and one year of supervisory experience with a solid understanding of DOT, OSHA and other regulations. • High school diploma or GED. • ASE certifications: T2 Diesel Engine, T3 Drive, T4 Brake, T5 Suspension & Steering, T6 Electrical/Electronic, T7 HVAC, and Master Certified. • Minimum three years of heavy‑equipment maintenance experience. • At least one year of supervisory experience in a lead‑technician or management role. • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and other federal and state safety regulations.
