About the Role

This second‑level Project Manager role provides project management systems and technical direction for small to medium electric substation, transmission, distribution, and communications projects. The incumbent is the single point of accountability for planning, executing, and closing projects, managing scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality per PMBOK standards. They also maintain client relationships and keep company leadership informed of status and issues, working independently while developing advanced skills. • Manage projects according to Pike Engineering policies, overseeing scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality. • Lead client and stakeholder relationships to establish trusted business partnerships. • Negotiate contracts, handle change orders, submittals, approvals, and subcontractor management. • Implement effective change control and risk management processes. • Administer EH&S and quality programs appropriate to each project. • Prepare thorough estimates, proposals, and conduct effective project meetings. • Provide performance feedback to line management and project team members. • Report project status to the team, management, and client. • Deliver accurate financial reports with backup for accounting and SOX compliance. • Apply financial controls to ensure project profitability and expected cash flow. • Process accurate invoices to ensure timely issuance and payment.

What You Bring

• Minimum 5 years' utility industry experience with strong project management fundamentals. • Proficient in MS Office and scheduling software such as MS Project or Primavera. • Excellent written and oral communication skills for technical documents and presentations. • High energy and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment with a bias for action. • Proven ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships while navigating organizational barriers. • Strong organizational, planning, time‑management, negotiation, and decision‑making abilities. • Knowledge of project accounting practices, financial systems, and contract pricing mechanisms (Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Cost Plus, Unit). • Ability to lead and influence in a matrix organization and work with diverse individuals. • Self‑motivated, independent worker who is also team‑oriented and customer‑focused. • Capable of managing multiple tasks while providing leadership to other team members. • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited institution. • State registration as a Professional Engineer. • PMP certification. • Expertise in engineering theories and principles with experience in transmission line or HV substation projects involving material manufacturers.
