About the Role

As Power Engineering Manager, you will be one of the functional leaders responsible for designing Fervo’s innovative power plants. As Fervo moves from engineering first‑of‑a‑kind projects to widespread scaling, you will help drive the facilities team toward a manufacturing mindset, optimizing each subsequent power plant for cost and cycle time. You will report to the Director of Engineering. You will own specification generation, design, and analysis of electrical power systems for generation and surface facilities, including power delivery, transmission, distribution, and substations. You will drive first‑principles trade‑off analysis to optimize plant performance and identify opportunities to simplify and accelerate designs while maintaining technical excellence. You will support procurement for electrical scopes and clearly communicate technical decisions, risks, and trade‑offs to executive leadership, ensuring timely alignment and execution. You will recruit, coach, and manage a world‑class team of six to eight electrical engineers, instilling a culture of extreme ownership for cost, safety, and constructability. You will encourage rapid iteration, a bias for speed, and resilience under pressure while fostering collaboration across process, mechanical, I&C, rotating equipment, and external partners. You will lead multiple challenging technical workstreams, balancing near‑term delivery with long‑term scalability, and support leadership in setting priorities, sequencing work, and making informed decisions. • Generate specifications, design, and analyze electrical power systems for generation and surface facilities. • Conduct first‑principles trade‑off analyses to optimize plant performance. • Identify opportunities to simplify and accelerate designs while maintaining technical excellence. • Support procurement for electrical scopes of power‑plant designs. • Communicate technical decisions, risks, and trade‑offs to executive leadership. • Collaborate with cross‑functional leaders to align electrical system priorities with project goals. • Recruit, coach, and manage a team of 6–8 electrical engineers. • Promote rapid iteration, speed bias, and resilience under pressure. • Foster collaboration across process, mechanical, I&C, rotating equipment, and external partners. • Lead multiple technical workstreams, balancing short‑term delivery and long‑term scalability. • Aid leadership in setting priorities, sequencing work, and making informed decisions.

What You Bring

To be successful, you must possess exceptional technical expertise in the power engineering discipline. You must also demonstrate a highly collaborative approach, working closely with the subsurface and facilities teams. The role requires a B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline and at least eight years of experience in electrical engineering on large capital projects. A proven track record of leading and developing high‑performing engineering teams, deep expertise in power delivery, transmission, distribution, and substations, and strong communication and leadership skills are essential. • Hold B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering (or related) with 8+ years in large capital projects. • Demonstrated track record leading high‑performing engineering teams. • Deep expertise in power delivery, transmission, distribution, and substations. • Strong communication and leadership skills to translate technical complexity into clear decisions.
