About the Role
Under general supervision, the engineer will collect, compile, and analyze data from work sites, surveys, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to support project development and construction. The position involves conducting research and inspections of existing and proposed site conditions and mechanical systems to verify compliance with applicable rules, codes, and permits. Routine engineering functions such as load calculations, equipment selection, and providing technical assistance on design and construction issues are also required, along with producing clear documentation and adhering to safety guidelines and company policies. • Provide technical assistance for design, development, testing, and inspection of mechanical systems in public and private projects. • Assist in research, concept development, installation, operation, maintenance, and integration of temperature control, air distribution, hydronic, and plumbing systems. • Collect and analyze site data, surveys, blueprints, and technical drawings to support project design and construction. • Perform basic mechanical engineering tasks, including load calculations and equipment selection, ensuring compliance with codes and standards. • Generate accurate documentation, specifications, and field logs using electronic tools. • Adhere to safety guidelines, complete required training, and act in accordance with WSP’s Code of Conduct.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline and have 0 to 1 year of post‑education experience. Required skills include strong research and analytical abilities, familiarity with design/build processes and mechanical codes, effective interpersonal and communication skills, and proficiency with technical writing, office software, and AutoCAD. The role demands self‑leadership, attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and the capacity to work both independently and within a team while following health, safety, and conduct policies. Preferred qualifications include an Engineer in Training certification, prior internship experience in the relevant engineering discipline, and active membership or participation in local professional practice organizations. • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related) with 0‑1 year of experience. • Demonstrate strong research, analytical, and communication skills; proficient in AutoCAD and standard office software. • Exhibit self‑leadership, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or within a team. • Preferred: Engineer in Training certification, relevant internship experience, active participation in professional organizations.
