Applicants must be Canadian citizens of African descent and permanent residents of Nova Scotia. Priority is given to Black Nova Scotians, Indigenous Black, Africadian, Afri‑Scotian or Scotian individuals who descend from free and enslaved Black Loyalists, Black Refugees, Maroons, and other Black peoples settled across 52 original Black communities. Candidates should be prepared to discuss their connection to the Black Nova Scotian community if interviewed, and the bursary cannot be combined with any other Nova Scotia Power scholarship or used for graduate studies. To apply, candidates must complete the online application and submit a résumé, a high‑school transcript (grades 10‑12, including fall semester marks) or an unofficial university transcript, and responses to the structured questions provided via the link. Benefits
The Black Nova Scotian Bursary Program offers four non‑renewable awards of $2,500 each to Black Nova Scotian students entering any year of a full‑time post‑secondary program. Preference is given to applicants studying Power Engineering, Power Line Technician, Instrumentation Technology, Engineering, Technology, Business, Marketing & Communications, Environmental Sciences, or Law. Recipients may have the chance to complete a 12‑week paid internship with Nova Scotia Power during their studies and will be notified of available opportunities. • Four $2,500 non‑renewable bursaries available. • Potential 12‑week paid internship with Nova Scotia Power.
