About the Role
During training, trainees learn to conduct full pre‑ and post‑operation vehicle inspections, operate heavy trucks safely along designated routes, and handle waste loading, compaction, and disposal according to company policies. They are taught to identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers, monitor waste for compliance, and continuously maintain vehicle readiness by cleaning equipment after each trip. After obtaining the CDL, drivers are expected to perform all standard driver duties and adhere to all safety procedures.

A Driver Trainee at Republic Services will be enrolled in a comprehensive CDL training program. The program combines classroom study, on‑route training, and hands‑on driving experience, including a loaned truck, to prepare the trainee for the state CDL examination. Upon successful completion and acquisition of a commercial driver’s license, the trainee moves into a full‑time Driver role within one of the company’s business lines such as Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Roll‑Off. Applicants must have no prohibitions that would prevent obtaining a commercial driver’s license.
