About the Role
The Site Inspector reports directly from construction sites to verify that contractor work complies with contract requirements. Responsibilities include maintaining project documentation, calculating quantities of work for monthly contractor payments, and regular interaction with clients and stakeholders. • Check contractor’s line and grade as work progresses and document in diary. • Carry out site inspections to verify construction works and equipment installation align with contract documents. • Serve as field point of contact for client and all project stakeholders. • Conduct reviews and verifications of construction schedules, including baseline and updates, in coordination with the client. • Perform inspections and oversee field testing; prepare daily reports; maintain construction contract records. • Assist in preparation and negotiation of construction change orders. • Occasionally chair project progress meetings and distribute meeting minutes. • Ensure site safety, permit compliance, and coordination with adjacent projects. • Monitor contractor compliance with safety, health plans, and quality assurance requirements. • Work with contractor to minimize disruptions to the public. • Log and coordinate with designer and contract administrator to respond to contractor submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings. • Prepare punch lists with owner upon project completion. • Ensure all field testing reports, including manufacturer reports, are provided prior to commissioning. • Investigate, report, and advise on unforeseen circumstances during construction (e.g., differing underground soil conditions, contractor claims). • Review contractor’s payment requests for progress, quantities, and material deliveries; advise on validity before issuing payment certificates. • Verify final shop drawings are submitted by contractor. • Maintain a marked‑up set of drawings to show as‑built works.

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least eight years of transportation construction inspection experience in the Toronto GTA and hold an OACETT designation (C.E.T., C.Tech, or A.Sc.T.). Preferred qualifications include a valid driver’s license with a personal vehicle, proven experience on municipal infrastructure projects such as roadways and bridges, strong knowledge of health and safety codes, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. • Minimum 8 years transportation construction inspection experience in Toronto GTA. • OACETT designation (C.E.T., C.Tech, or A.Sc.T.). • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle. • Demonstrated experience on municipal infrastructure projects such as roadways and bridges. • Strong knowledge of inspections, health and safety codes, and regulations. • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to travel to sites for extended periods and work outside normal business hours.
