About the Role
Key duties include complying with WM safety rules, OSHA and DOT regulations, and all local, state, and federal laws while operating the vehicle. Drivers conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, complete DVIR reports, and promptly report unsafe conditions, incidents, and service interruptions to the Operations Manager or Dispatch. They communicate customer requests, ensure sites are left clean after dumping, follow assigned routes, and complete end‑of‑day documentation. • Operate waste‑collection trucks safely following WM, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR reports. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, and service interruptions to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Communicate customer requests and ensure sites are left clean after dumping. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and assist fellow drivers as needed. • Meet physical demands such as lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, standing, and walking for extended periods. • Work Monday‑Friday shifts starting at 3 AM with 10‑12 hour days and occasional Saturdays.

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear lift attachments to collect waste or recyclable containers that can exceed 1,000 lb. Depending on the line of business, drivers work as residential collectors, commercial pickup specialists, or roll‑off operators, navigating high‑traffic streets, alleys, driveways, and tight industrial environments. Skilled backing maneuvers are essential for safely handling containers and load stages. Applicants must hold a valid Class A or B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement and have at least one year of commercial driving experience or recent military driving. Candidates must be 18 years or older, legally authorized to work in the United States, and preferably possess a high school diploma or GED. The role requires physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and reaching throughout the shift. • Maintain a valid Class A or B CDL with air‑brake endorsement and at least one year of commercial driving experience (or recent military driving). • Be at least 18 years old, legally authorized to work in the United States, and preferably hold a high school diploma or GED.
