About the Role
The Level 2 Process Control Engineer, following the Purdue Model for Industrial Control Systems, provides technical expertise to assist, maintain, and improve production systems in the assigned area. Primary responsibilities include critical reporting of KPIs, engineering improvements to software, web development, database management, integrating machinery for data collection, and project management. The primary goal is to maintain and support production systems within the assigned area. • Provide technical expertise to maintain and improve production systems. • Report key performance indicators and drive engineering software enhancements. • Develop web applications, manage databases, and integrate machinery for data collection. • Lead project management initiatives for system upgrades. • Initiate and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards. • Manage RDBMS databases (PL/SQL, MSSQL) and programming languages (C, C#, OOP). • Develop and maintain web applications with version control and SCADA/MES architecture. • Deploy and maintain virtual machines across Windows, Windows Server, Unix, and Linux. • Work with network communication protocols such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, fiber, Profibus, Modbus, and RS232.

What You Bring
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum qualifications require a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or 2‑3 years of relevant automation experience. Preferred qualifications include steel manufacturing or processing knowledge, understanding of statistical methods and data aggregation, database management and RDBMS experience, proficiency in PL/SQL, MSSQL, C, C#, native OS syntax, OOP, web development, version control, and SCADA/MES architecture, experience deploying and maintaining virtual machines on Windows, Windows Server, Unix, and Linux, and familiarity with network communication protocols such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, fiber, Profibus, Modbus, and RS232. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or 2‑3 years automation experience. • Possess steel manufacturing knowledge and experience with statistical methods and data aggregation.
