About the Role

In the Transportation Drainage Coordinator/EIT role you will work on design teams preparing roadway and highway drainage elements using local or HEC/USACE standards, including hydrology, hydraulics, CAD (Civil 3D and MicroStation), storm‑drain layout, ditch and channel design, interchange layout, and floodplain analysis. You will help produce plans, specifications, and estimates for projects of varying size and complexity, create drainage reports, profiles, erosion‑control and site‑preparation plans, and support floodplain mapping and permitting. You will collaborate with project engineers on urban and rural roadway designs, manage alignment, profile, geometrics, drainage, and construction estimates, and assist with technical reports, specifications, and calculations. • Design roadway and highway drainage components using local or HEC/USACE standards, covering hydrology, hydraulics, storm‑drain layout, ditch/channel design, interchange layout, and floodplain analysis. • Produce drainage reports, plans, profiles, erosion‑control plans, site‑preparation plans, and floodplain mapping and permitting documents. • Prepare project plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a range of project sizes and complexities. • Collaborate with project engineers on urban and rural roadway detailed design, managing alignment, profile, geometrics, and construction estimates. • Assist in creating and submitting technical reports, specifications, and calculations.

What You Bring

Preferred qualifications include an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certificate and proficiency with MicroStation or AutoCAD, plus experience with highways engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation, Open Roads Designer, Autodesk Infraworks, or Civil 3D. Candidates without an EIT will start in a Design Coordinator role and are expected to obtain the EIT for career progression. Required qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field and a commitment to actively participating in HDR’s employee‑owned culture. • Hold an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification. • Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD; experienced with Bentley ConceptStation, Open Roads Designer, Autodesk Infraworks, or Civil 3D. • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field. • Demonstrated commitment to actively participating in HDR’s employee‑owned, inclusive culture.
