About the Role

The role focuses on electrical and control component selection for HVAC equipment, creating updated or new designs for production units and defining specifications for each component. The engineer collaborates with sustaining designers and engineers to ensure seamless integration with other systems and provides design guidance to mechanical designers for optimized outcomes. • Modify existing electrical diagrams and create new electrical/control system designs for production HVAC units. • Determine specifications for each component and read schematics to recommend changes. • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical designers and engineers to ensure seamless system integration. • Provide design guidance and oversight to assigned electrical designers for optimized releases. • Establish procedures for testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment. • Test and troubleshoot electrical/control products to verify proper and safe operation. • Implement engineering change notices (ECNs) with engineering and operations teams. • Support production during prototypes and initial production to ensure smooth product releases. • Coordinate with engineering to approve part shortages, build test fixtures, and prototypes. • Create cost estimates for electrical/control products, including material, labor, and equipment costs. • Develop bills of materials and translation documents for new or revised designs. • Perform electrical CAD modeling and simulations. • Prepare product documentation, operating instructions, and review technical literature. • Support or develop ePlan programs for HVAC units. • Assist with DFMEAs, PFMEAs, FEA, and seismic evaluation/testing. • Stay current with electrical codes and regulations (UL, CE, NEC, IBC, NFPA) to ensure safety compliance. • Maintain professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and professional societies. • Travel as needed to support projects or resolve field issues.

What You Bring

A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology and 1‑3 years of industry experience are required. The position demands the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, sit or stand for most of the shift, work in temperatures ranging from below 32°F to above 90°F, and travel to customer sites when needed.
