About the Role
The role offers local technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of infrastructure projects in both public and private sectors, including research, concept development, and construction of various structures, while generating accurate documentation and ensuring compliance with industry quality, safety, and functionality standards. The successful candidate will work on transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber‑optic additions, support engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills, learn civil/structural/mechanical principles, assist with research, field work, calculations, design plans, cost estimates, and project documentation, and complete assigned training. • Provide technical assistance for design, development, and construction of overhead transmission line projects. • Conduct project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations. • Prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates. • Generate accurate documentation and maintain project records. • Support engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical competencies. • Participate in training and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and safety policies. • Travel to project sites as needed. • Commit to workplace safety and compliance with WSP policies.

What You Bring
Candidates must be actively enrolled in an accredited civil engineering (or related) undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of May 2026 or later, have 0‑1 year of relevant experience, demonstrate strong interest in civil engineering, possess effective interpersonal and communication skills, be proficient in technical writing and basic software tools, have U.S. work authorization, and show a commitment to safety and WSP’s policies. Preferred qualifications include Engineer‑in‑Training certification, familiarity with design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, prior internship experience, involvement in professional organizations, a minimum 2.75 GPA, coursework in structural analysis, concrete, steel, soils, foundations, and surveying, and strong attention to detail and time‑management abilities. • Enroll in an accredited Civil Engineering (or related) undergraduate program, graduating May 2026 or later. • Have 0–1 year of relevant experience. • Communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical audiences. • Proficient in technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and engineering tools. • Authorized to work in the United States. • Ability to work flexible schedules beyond the typical workweek. • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification (preferred). • Familiarity with design software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, etc.) (preferred). • Prior internship experience in the engineering discipline (preferred). • Member of professional practice organizations (preferred). • Minimum 2.75 GPA and coursework in structural analysis, concrete, steel, soils, foundations, surveying (preferred). • Exhibit strong attention to detail, time‑management, and organizational skills.
