About the Role

The role is site‑based, embedding you in multidisciplinary teams where you will support commercial activities such as monthly pay applications, change‑order reviews, financial reporting and on‑the‑ground decision‑making. Assignments can be located in diverse environments—from mountain‑rimmed outdoor locales to vibrant college towns—providing a range of lifestyle choices. • Conduct feasibility studies and advise on procurement strategies and contract selection • Apply value‑management techniques at the project outset • Manage, estimate and produce cost plans, presenting the final cost plan to stakeholders • Assist in procurement and selection of the main contractor • Prepare contract documents, warranties, bonds and licences and support their execution • Advise on administration of building‑contract terms • Measure work, provide valuations and adjust variations in line with contract terms • Deliver cost control and reporting services throughout the contract • Produce financial reports for the client at required frequencies • Identify costs linked to design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges • Evaluate contractor and subcontractor claims for delay and additional costs • Advise on issuing certificates of practical completion and negotiate final accounts • Advise on issuing certificates of making good defects and final completion • Drive system and process improvements and lead transformational change • Guide and mentor Assistant Cost Consultant and junior team members • Provide informal training and support to junior staff • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders • Manage stakeholder expectations and communications • Contribute to net‑zero carbon transition by identifying and managing carbon emissions during delivery • Manage relevant project stakeholders • Problem‑solve and resolve cost and contract administration issues

What You Bring

• Understand sustainability, social value and carbon‑reduction issues • Possess strong knowledge of industry best practice • Hold a degree in quantity surveying or cost management (or equivalent) • Hold or be working towards MRICS/RICS professional membership • Have sector‑specific knowledge and expertise relevant to the project • Hold relevant technical qualifications or certifications for the project portfolio • Experience with most forms of construction contracts • Ability to advise on contract administration and management • Proven experience in cost consultancy • Experience in cost planning, budgeting and estimating • Understand costs, timescales and risk implications of project delivery • Knowledge of different contract types and measurement methods • Strong negotiation and analytical skills • Digital competence and ability to use modern tools • Effective communication with all stakeholders • Ability to implement improved working practices • Develop strong interpersonal skills for reporting, negotiating and relationship building
