About the Role

QA/QC Inspectors test, sample, and inspect raw materials, fabricated, machined, and assembled structures, as well as industrial processes, to ensure quality and identify deviations or defects according to specifications. This role includes inspecting welds and welding processes. Key responsibilities involve reading and interpreting blueprints, manuals, and specifications; inspecting, approving, or rejecting welds; inspecting raw materials; providing process and specification information to welders, supervisors, and other stakeholders; testing welders for qualifications; and coordinating with internal or contracted weld X‑ray teams. • Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and specifications • Inspect, approve, or reject welds according to specifications • Inspect raw materials • Provide process and specification information to welders, supervisors, and relevant personnel • Coordinate efforts with contracted or internal weld X‑ray teams • Work at heights using ladders, stairways, platforms, man lifts, with appropriate fall protection

What You Bring

The position requires a current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certificate, at least three years of welding inspection experience, and the ability to meet all physical requirements, including working at heights over 300 feet. Candidates must have the necessary tools and reliable transportation. The role demands strong teamwork and communication skills, extensive knowledge of multiple welding processes and their materials, basic understanding of heavy industrial construction, and the ability to apply problem‑solving and critical‑thinking to identify and resolve issues, including safety risks. Compliance with company directives and safety procedures is essential. Physical demands include extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting; using arms and hands to exert up to 70 ft‑lb of pressure; lifting and moving up to 50 lb; working at heights using ladders, platforms, and man lifts with appropriate fall protection; maintaining good visual acuity; and operating in varied weather conditions while wearing required PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather work boots. • Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certificate required • Minimum 3+ years experience as a welding inspector • Ability to work at heights exceeding 300 ft • Possess all required tools • Reliable transportation • Extensive knowledge of multiple welding processes and associated materials • Effective communication and teamwork skills • Basic knowledge of heavy industrial construction processes • Problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities to identify and resolve issues, including safety risks • Willingness to follow all company directives and safety procedures • Former experience with Zachry Industrial, Inc. • Experience as a welder on industrial construction projects • Standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting for extended periods • Use of arms and hands to apply up to 70 ft‑lb of pressure • Lift, carry, and move up to 50 lb • Good visual acuity and depth perception • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions • Required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear protection, respirator, safety vest, gloves, leather work boots
