About the Role

Safety is the most important aspect of all Nucor jobs; candidates must be able to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. • Perform fit‑up, tacking, and welding on a variety of structural assemblies. • Follow all weld standards and procedures. • Add stiffeners, brackets, face plates, etc., using prints for location prior to final welding. • Use clamps, jigs, tape, square, arc air gouger, cutting torch, and plasma as required, applying best practices to prevent warping and misalignment. • Operate overhead cranes. • Maintain required records and documentation. • Inspect, detect, and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to leadership. • Keep work area and equipment clean and orderly. • Follow prescribed safety rules, regulations, and quality standards.

What You Bring

American Buildings – Illinois is seeking qualified applicants for the Structural Fabricator teammate role. The position involves a variety of fabrication tasks and supports the broader Nucor Buildings Group operations. • High school diploma or equivalent. • AWS welding and Canadian certification. • Ability to read tape measure, square, and blueprint readings. • Minimum 1 year of fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment. • Ability to work 10‑12 hour shifts. • Ability to read and understand weld symbols. • Proficiency with an arc gouger. • Previous crane certification. • Experience in material handling. • Background in welding with knowledge of standard welding practices and procedures. • Trained and confident in overhead crane use.

Teammates in this role average $85,000 annually, are eligible for weekly and annual bonuses, and participate in profit sharing with a 5‑year average of 20% of eligible earnings.
