About the Role

Mears Group is seeking an experienced Finance & Commercial Manager to provide robust commercial and financial support to operational branch leadership, ensuring senior stakeholders understand the commercial model, own financial performance, and manage contract profitability. The role demands strong technical financial knowledge, commercial acumen, and the ability to translate data into actionable insight for non‑financial leaders, driving financial discipline and supporting strategic decision‑making. Applicants must have a proven track record as a Finance and Commercial Manager in a contract‑based environment, be comfortable with complex financial models, and possess excellent communication skills to convey complex information clearly. Desirable experience includes working in social housing, familiarity with schedules of rates, subcontractor pricing, and final accounts, as well as the ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. All candidates must have the right to work in the UK, meet vehicle driving requirements, and will undergo standard background, identity and security checks before starting. • Own financial performance and challenge teams on commercial terms, targets and KPIs. • Proven experience as Finance and Commercial Manager in a contract‑based environment. • Ability to work with complex financial models and challenge performance. • Excellent communication skills to simplify complex financial data. • Proactive, hands‑on, independent work style with ownership of outcomes. • Experience in social housing and housing maintenance, including schedule of rates and subcontractor pricing. • Must be aged over 21, hold a licence for more than 3 months and have fewer than 9 points to drive a Mears vehicle.
