About the Role
Freese and Nichols is seeking a Technical Resource Librarian to join its Technical Excellence group, open to candidates in any of its locations. The role involves organizing, maintaining, and administering the firm’s library of technical standards and resources, as well as updating the Technical Excellence Organization SharePoint site and coordinating resource rosters with technical leaders. The librarian will work closely with project teams and the Technical Standards Manager to support special assignments, assist staff with reference services, and contribute to the development and enforcement of resource usage policies across the firm’s platforms and offices. • Review current resources, identify gaps, and track renewals. • Receive requests for new resources and collaborate with vendors to obtain quotes. • Track usage of technical standards and resources across platforms and offices. • Prepare reports and statistics on resource usage, user requests, and costs; present findings and recommendations to management. • Coordinate with Business Technology to support organization and management of technical standards. • Develop and deliver training and support for staff on the technical standards library. • Create, implement, and enforce resource usage policies. • Provide technical and reference services, including access assistance, searches, research requests, and article or book requests. • Survey stakeholders to determine gaps in required information resources such as articles, manuals, and research papers. • Attend Technical Excellence Program meetings as requested; domestic travel may be required.

What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Sciences or a related field. • Minimum 5+ years managing a technical library in engineering or architectural professions, with demonstrated progression of responsibility. • Prior private‑sector experience and exposure to the AEC industry desired. • Working knowledge of external reference standards (e.g., ASTM, IEEE, ASCE, ASME). • Familiarity with reference standards delivery platforms (e.g., Accuris Engineering Workbench, MADCAD). • Proficient with SharePoint. • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently. • Exceptional writing and communication abilities. • Preferred: 5+ years experience in a scientific, technical, or engineering library. • Preferred: Master's degree in Library and Information Sciences or related field.
